"Giving Birth...should be your greatest achievement not your greatest fear" - Jane Weidemen
Hello there,
Thank you so much for dropping by, its a pleasure to have you visit.
A bit about me, I was born in Mauritius, therefore speak French before migrating to Melbourne Australia when I was 8 years old. I started my career as a nurse and have worked for various organisations over the years. I studied midwifery after the birth of my first child in 2008. In the field of maternity I work as a midwife, doula (birth support) and childbirth educator. My passion lies in specialising in preparing mums and their partners for labour and birth no matter how the birth unfolds. I believe all mums are capable of a positive birthing experience. Unfortunately the statistics does not reflect this. Perspective, acquired knowledge, utilisation of that acquired depth of knowledge, as well as the adequate, (emphasis on adequate) support of partners and care providers is pivotal to a woman's birthing space and birthing experience. My skillset is mindfulness and movement. I don't believe that there is one program that does it all, that adequately unite the concepts of mind body connection in labour and birth. This is why I choose Hypnobirthing Australia and Spinning Babies as childbirth educational approaches in preparing my clients. The birth of my first child plays an enormous role for choosing to become a midwife and the birth of my second child plays its part in choosing to become a childbirth educator. I love what I do. I love being a childbirth educator and providing birth support to families. I feel joyous, light and love in my heart when I know I have been able to help another mum welcome her baby into the world with confidence. Life has its own set of challenges, let motherhood begin with peace in one's heart, strength of character and sense of greatness about labouring and birthing one's child. Let partners feel rewarded in adequately supporting the labouring mother. Let couples embrace their different journeys yet united as they meet their baby. This experience is your birth right! Humanity has lost much of its birthing knowledge and instinct over the years, I hope to remind you of them. Independent pregnancy, labour and birth programs play a crucial role in helping couples prepare in achieving a satisfied birthing experience. One that reflects adequate knowledge, confidence and support so families make informed decisions during one of the most exciting, brave yet vulnerable periods in their lives. So many women and their partners in the community speak negatively about their birthing experience, I aim at changing that!
